This article is about the benefits of fasting and explains  the bodily changes taking place during fasting.

When we do not fast:

• When we consume food , it is converted to glucose by a hormone of the pancreas called the insulin.

• The glucose dissolves in the body steam and reaches to all the organs of the body providing  energy for all metabolic activities of the body.

• The insulin hormone also stores unused glucose  as reserves for later use.

When we fast :

• During fasting, the body burns the fats in our body to provide energy for carrying out its essential activities.

• The fat cells on burning release a substance called the triglycerides.

• When the triglyceride get  oxidized, acids called ketones are formed.

• The ketones are the sources of energy, when the body fasts.

• All the vital organs of the body essentially involved in the process of digestion get a deserved rest and break from their work.

• However, at this state the efficiency of the body is 75%  of its normal state. That is why, rest is mandatory while we fast.

• All the toxic materials are eliminated from the body, and the body automatically sends signals of rejuvenation by making us feel very hungry. The tongue turns pinks indicating increased blood flow.

• Drinking water during fasting helps a lot. Water is the best solvent and  flushes out the toxics substances from our body .

Fasting once every week is very much recommended as it shows its health benefits in the long run.

                                                 Happy living !!!
