How to Detoxify the Brain

Brain is the most vital organ of the body and for its proper functioning, it should be detoxified on a regular basis. For detoxification of brain, some healthy and nutritious foods should be eaten. It should be noted that we become whatever we eat throughout the day. Thus, foods directly influence our well being. Food also influence our thinking and the way we feel. The detox diets for brain in general, include various amino acids which are needed for proper functioning of brain. Detox Foods for Brain

Some amino acids comprise detox foods for brain, which are given as follows:

  • Tyrosine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Tryptophan

It is advisable to take the above amino acids directly from the natural foods, but some supplements which contain the above can also be taken. If these are taken from the natural foods, then it is also a cheap method as compared to the supplements. These amino acids are discussed below:

  • Tyrosine

    – Tyrosine amino acid is mainly found in egg white, whole eggs and soy. It is also found in meat, yeast, cheese and sea weeds. This amino acid is basically an important component of cortisol, human adrenalin, noradrenalin and dopamine. These hormones act as neurotransmitters of the brain. These hormones also help in responding to the positive forms of stress as well as pleasure.

  • Phenylalanine

    – The major sources of phenylalanine are egg white, soy protein, tofu, yeast, parmesan cheese, sesame seeds and cold water fish. This amino acid can also be found in meats, cheese and legumes. It is also believed that this amino acid is also found in chocolates. The effect of phenylalanine can be observed in people suffering with mild depression.

  • Tryptophan

    – Tryptophan is an important amino acid and the major sources of this amino acid are egg white, soy protein, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. It is also found in meats and fishes in less amounts. Niacin (a vitamin belonging to group B vitamins) can be converted into tryptophan by the body. This amino acid can be easily absorbed by the body. This amino acid helps relieve insomnia.

The above are a few amino acids and their food sources for detoxification of brain. It is always advisable to take these amino acids under a doctor’s supervision as too much of their amounts can also be harmful to the body.
