Vegetable Fasting

Posted on June 27, 2007 in Types of Fasting

Toxins build up in our body over time and with all the pollutants we inhale. Though the body does try to get rid of them through the tissues, yet the toxins enter the bloodstream, and we experience a “low” cycle when we suffer from headaches, diarrhea.

One good way of detoxifying the body is to move away from this low cycle.
Fasting helps give your organs a rest from constantly functioning and helps to reverse the aging process.

While preparing for a fast, eat only raw vegetables and fruits for two days. By going on this diet, your body will be able to respond to the fast better with a lower level of shock. Remember to drink eight ounce glasses of steam distilled water a day, juices and two cups of herbal tea a day. Do not drink orange or tomato juice or artificially made juices.

Lemon juice is the best, if you add a cup of warm water to it. You could also try fresh apple, beet, cabbage, carrot, celery, and grape juices and “green drinks” made from green leafy vegetables. You must have these as they are natural detoxifiers.

Have a glass of raw cabbage juice and it will help you out of ulcers, cancer, and all colon problems. Continue to have juices, water and tea while on your fast and raw fruits and vegetables.

Herbs: Drink herbal tea right through your fast, but not more than two cups a day.

While on a fast, you must drink vegetable soup to clean your various organs-the lungs, liver, kidneys and the skin. A lot of accumulated metabolic wastes and toxins are expelled due to the action of vegetables on your system. At this time, the alimentary canal, liver and kidney are no longer working hard to digest food and eliminate the resultant wastes.

While fasting, during the process of eliminating waste matter from the system, you might encounter these symptoms: offensive breath, dark urine, continuous and generous discharge from the colon, skin eruptions and excessive perspiration. These are natural and this means that your fast is successful.

To be on a vegetable diet during a fast is most helpful to the system, as the light food you take in now is easily digested by the body, rather than the animal proteins. Your body therefore feels very light and you experience a definite weight loss too.
